Description
The vessel, Tim S. Dool, is a bulk carrier that was built in 1967 and is sailing under the flag of Canada. It travels through the great lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway. On a foggy October morning in 2012, the ship was sailing on the St. Lawrence River near Alexandria Bay, New York. The Thousand Island region is pretty quiet in October after the busy summer activities are over. Great image for a man cave.
Summer is a very busy time on the St. Lawrence Seaway, and the Thousand Islands is a great location for ship watchers. The St. Lawrence Seaway’s navigation season generally extends from late March to late December.
The Thousand Islands are a group of more than 1,800 islands in the St. Lawrence River, straddling the border of the United States and Canada. A fashionable retreat for the elite in the late 19th century, today the area is a hub for outdoor activities including boating, fishing and sightseeing. It’s home to elaborate island mansions such as the German-style Boldt Castle on Heart Island, and Singer Castle on Dark Island.
